The reviews for Foyle and Foyle Realty and Property Management present a concerning picture, particularly regarding their property management services. One reviewer strongly advises against renting from them, citing significant maintenance issues, including non-functional power outlets that were only resolved after the reviewer pointed out the company's alleged violations and lack of a rental license. Further complaints include uncut grass, a broken washing machine, and a consistently flooded basement laundry room. The most severe issue raised is a rodent infestation in the building, with mice reportedly running through apartments and leaving droppings. The reviewer describes Elaine, Donna, and Joe as unprofessional and rude. They claim that the company only took action after being asked to terminate the lease and that they were charged an early termination fee equivalent to their security deposit, despite the company's alleged breach of the lease. This reviewer concludes by calling the company a scam and urging others to avoid them, suggesting positive reviews may be fabricated. Another reviewer mentions difficulty in contacting the company to tour an apartment, experiencing unanswered calls and a full voicemail box.

If you take the time to read any review, please let it be this one. The short version is this: Do not rent from these people under any circumstance. Here's why: My boyfriend and I moved into their Mt. Airy location because we liked the area and rent was fair. We moved in around July and things quickly began to fall apart. The main issue here is maintenance. Several power outlets were not working in the apartment. I put in several maintenance requests to no avail. They eventually fixed them after I called and informed them I discovered they have several violations with the city and don't have a license to rent. That's right! They were not legally allowed to charge rent to tenants due to their violations... Anyway. They never cut the grass, the washing machine never worked and the laundry room in the basement flooded every time it rained. The final straw however is the fact that the whole building IS RODENT INFESTED. We lived here a total of 6 months. During that time, I called several times and sent countless emails that mice were running through our apartment, eating at our couch and pooping on our kitchen counters. I've attached the photos. Elaine, Donna and Joe are some of the most unprofessional, rude people to work with. It took my boyfriend and I going into the office and asking to get out of our lease for them to send an exterminator out. Elaine had said the exterminator was on a monthly plan to come to the building, the exterminator told me he was told to stop coming. We mutually agreed to terminate the lease, even though they broke the lease by not responding to maintenance request, but we were still charged an early termination fee. The fee was conveniently the same price as our security deposit we never got back. This company is a scam. If you are reading these reviews to see if you should apply for an apartment with them, then please listen to us and do not. The nice reviews are probably written by Joe or Elaine in their spare time of ignoring phone calls from tenants.

I've been trying to reach them for the past 2 days (via Zillow, email, their website, and phone [their mailbox is full; based on the reviews, maybe this is one purpose]) to tour an apartment and they have not contacted me once. I'm literally trying to give you guys money =

My husband and I lived at a Foyle and Foyle property about a year. Where do I begin. . . When we moved in, the garbage disposal was broken and filled with rotting garbage. The first rain of the year, there was water pouring down the walls because there were holes in the roof. The radiators were broken and we didn't have heat until mid December. We had to sleep with three blankets. Their were squirrels in the crawl space because of the holes in the roof. They were very loud when digging at the ceiling. For 4 months the buildings washing machine was broken. Our neighbor also had a leak in her ceiling for 7 months that they never bothered to fix. On our wedding weekend, we did not have power for 5 days, it was very hot out. When we went to move out, we asked to go month to month on our lease. They said no until we brought up all the issues. After that, our lease was changed month to month. When we found a new place and informed them, they told us there was a computer glitch and we weren't month to month and we would be responsible for the rest of the years rent if someone did not fill the apartment. Ridiculous. We did end up getting part of our security deposit back, money was taken out for cleaning and maintenance. Even after my husband spent the day cleaning the place and there were no maintenance issues they were not made aware of prior. Namely, all the water damage on the walls they never fixed. Don't believe them if they tell you they are under new management. But yeah, Joe is nice.

They would have to pay me to live at another one of their properties. The city would be a better place if they closed their doors today. After viewing the property with their half competent agent we decided to take it based on the price and mindset of “how bad could it be?” Bad. As soon as I got there everything was overgrown, nothing was cleaned other than maybe some air freshener, cracks in the basement rain pipes, and disgustingly dirty walls. They do not answer the phone and RARELY answer an email (works best if you give some pressure citing city regulations). Got to the point where I had to go there in person just to talk to someone and turns out someone was there to do the same thing. The guy who came to fix our garbage disposal (after a week of trying to contact them) said they still haven’t paid him for a job he did months prior. The prices might be good, but do yourself a favor and avoid living at any of their properties.

If you like to be left alone this is the property manager for you. But if things go wrong they are also not responsive. I have had multiple water issues here, and they don't respond to tenant maintenance requests. A pipe burst and it flooded the basement and my ceiling which took them over a week to fix. That was just one of the numerous issues with this property manager. Sadly my desire to not move again out ranks the issues with this place for now.
